![]() This point will be behind the steering point. Now drop a vertical line done from the front axle. Imagine this, draw a line down through the centre of your steering stem until it hits the ground. Trail is the distance that the front wheel is behind the steering axis. One of the biggest things to consider is the change in trail that may occur. You may need to get a new hose fabricated if you dont use a complete brake system including master cylinder. I would think it easier to use the complete front end with wheel, axle and brake caliper. If the forks are only a little smaller you could use some shim stock or if there is a big difference in size then you will need to make some adaptor bushes. If the forks are bigger than the clamps, you would have to either machine out your triple clamps, which would render them unfit for re-use when converting back to standard or get new triple clamps with all the right size holes in the right places. If I remember I'll take some measurements on WP, KYB and Showa forks tommorrow morning. Larger diameter stanchions doesn't always mean larger diameter outer tubes. I've measured some forks that shared the same size where they go through the top triple clamp. Some forks share the same OD where they go through the triple clamp, this would make it easier. Even though I have never done it, it shouldn't be too hard.įirstly you have to deal with clamping the forks. ![]()
